I write this post with heavy heart. Sugar Bear passed away tonight. She was going down hill all day and spent most of it in my hand next to my heart. I held her, caressed her, and tried to stimulate her as she was drawing her last breath. As she was being buried, these words formed in my mind to voice what I felt in my heart: I didn't give up hope until hope was gone... And can't help but wonder..."What did I do wrong"? As I shed many, many a tear, For the one I had grown to love as Sugar Bear. Good bye, Sugar Bear...

Oh Janey, I knew it was a long shot with little Sugar Bear. Bless you for trying. If it helps, my tears joined yours when I read your post.
Yes, it does help...thank you Sheila.
Oh, Janey. I'm so sorry. I really am. Please understand that you didn't do anything wrong--- you gave Sugar Bear everything she needed, and more, so please don't put any blame on yourself. I'm sorry you're hurting right now, and I'm praying for you.
Thank you Becky...
I'm having trouble getting my comments accepted on this post.
You did everything right for Sugar Bear, but at that much smaller than the rest she didn't get enough in utero nutrition to develop normally so that she didn't have the necessary mature organs to survive on her own for very long. Sometimes nature seems cruel because we don't understand the grand scheme. Having Sugar Bear for the short time you had her was precious and gave you an even greater appreciation for Life.
Jan, thank you for not giving up on making this comment...I appreciate all the kind words, but I have never been real good at losing my precious animals.
Janey,
Hope the puppies and Katy are thriving. I have a question about something you said and wondered if it was a quote from somewhere or not. You said, "I didn't give up until hope was gone." That just struck me and sticks with me.
Hi Sheila, I have written poetry and songs all my life and "Good Bye Sugar Bear" was a poem that I wrote to express my feelings upon loosing her.
Katy and the puppies are thriving. The puppies look more like little piglets with fur!!!
