Cindi Powell, a friend of ours over at the stables, just shared these pictures with us. They are of TnT in the 2005 Taft Christmas Parade. The theme for the parade was "Christmas Lights". Travis and Tony grabbed their kerosene lanterns and walked down the parade route side-by-side. When it came time to walk in front of the judges, they side passed and thrilled the judges around me. That's right, I was one of the equine judges! I was doing my best not to burst with pride as I heard oh's and ah's ripple down the judges stand. But, I didn't let anyone know that TnT and the Mustang's were mine until after they decided that "the cowboys on the mustangs" were their choice for 1st Place in the Equine Division!!!
I thought that we didn't have any pictures of that year because my digital camera didn't take good night pictures! Thank you Cindi!
The Arabian horse in purple behind the guys, was wearing a blanket and headstall bedecked with sequins and tassles. Her owner, dressed to match, made the outfits. I wish that we had a closer picture, it was some beautiful workmanship.

Janey, thanks for sharing the photos. I know you are proud of these guys and with good reason. I think I know what "side passed" is but for the non -horse set, could you elaborate?
Happy New Year Sheila! It is hard to explain in words, but I will try...
Say you are on the judges stand...as the horses walk down the street you are looking at their sides. Then as the horses get to you they turn and face you but they still keep walking! Sideways!
I hope that draws a mental picture for anyone that hasn't been around horses and seen them in action.
Thanks for the explanation. I have seen riders do that during parades.
Nice job on the interviews for Blog Village too.
It's neat isn't it!!! The parades up in Cheyenne, Wyoming during Cheyenne Frontier Days were filled with horses and fancy steps!
