Good bye, Sugar Bear...

November 13, 2006 - November 16, 2006

I write this post with heavy heart. Sugar Bear passed away tonight. She was going down hill all day and spent most of it in my hand next to my heart. I held her, caressed her, and tried to stimulate her as she was drawing her last breath. As she was being buried, these words formed in my mind to voice what I felt in my heart: I didn't give up hope until hope was gone... And can't help but wonder..."What did I do wrong"? As I shed many, many a tear, For the one I had grown to love as Sugar Bear. Good bye, Sugar Bear...

Katy, her little ones & her littlest one...

Sugar Bear spends her nights with me, but during the day she gets to spend time with her brother and sisters and mom. Katy is a very good mom and seems to understand, now (after a few growls and warning snaps), that I am helping her with Sugar Bear, not stealing another puppy! Most of the time I check on Sugar Bear, she is tucked against Katy's chest! Other times she is snuggled in between her siblings. She is so tiny, but you should hear her when she is feeding...grunts and groans as loud as her brother and sisters!!! And what an appetite! Sugar Bears' sighs are what tugs at my heart...especially a full tummy sigh...

Sugar Bear is about a third the size of her brother and sisters! I have a few pictures of Sugar Bear and can't seem to get a good one of Katy and the puppies. They come out too dark or blurred. I will share these until I get better pictures. It's time for a new camera! I will try new batteries for now...

They are HERE!!!

Katy had her puppies! 5 girls & 1 boy! They are almost duplicate to her first litter. There are 2 black & white girls, 2 tan & brindle girls, 1 darker tan & brindle girl, and 1 darkest tan & brindle boy. The tiniest girl needs your thoughts and prayers. She is about half the size of the rest and I am having to feed her on homemade puppy formula that my cousin emailed me. Debbie is a breeder of "American Cockapoos", owns Starlos Cockapoos, and has been taking care of puppies for 23 years. Sugar Bear "mews" when she is hungry and is keeping warm in a huge terry cloth towel on top of a heating pad. I named her Sugar Bear because I was feeding her some warm sugared milk until I got the recipe from Debbie. She is getting spoiled already and wants to be held all the time! I will get some pictures posted as soon as possible.
