Road Trip to Texas!!!

Well, next Friday will be here before I know it. I am looking forward to getting to see TnT! Since they moved to Texas 6 months ago, life has not been the same and neither has this blog! As some of you long time readers know, the reason for this blog moved 1200 miles away. All 11 reasons! Now there are 17 reasons with Kate and Rusty's new litter. With the guys working 12 hour shifts, and daylight savings time, they have not had the time to work with the horses nor enough light to take pictures.

I am working on posting more as I search through over 8500 pictures. I am getting ready a post about the guys buggies, but am waiting on some information from the guys. And I am looking forward to taking hundreds, if not thousands :) of pictures on my vacation! I will be able to get more pictures of the new litter of puppies before they all go to their new homes and it looks like I will be staying a couple of weeks instead of the original 3 to 4 days!!! Naturally, I will not be able to post all the pictures, but I will have lots to work with in the future.

I will be able to post to this blog from TnT's computer and will have to set up Go-To-My-Computer so that I can access all my programs and keep my business going while I am in Texas. But it will all be worth it!

Next Saturday, my brother and I will meet TnT in Arizona for our family reunion that takes place every year with my mother's side of the family. While the guys explore the desert with their Uncle and a 3rd Cousin, I will be going over family ancestry information with my 1st and 2nd Cousins. I hope that I get some desert exploring time, too! But want to get some quality time in with family that I don't get to see that often. Then I will travel back to Texas with the guys. After a couple weeks stay I will then travel back to California by Amtrak. So, if you don't hear from us for a little bit, know that as soon as I get settled in Texas, I will be posting daily again...

Texas Bound...

Well, TnT leave for Texas in the morning. I have done pretty good about not crying until today. My skin has been as thin as onion paper and the tears have overflowed more times that I would like to admit. I told the guys last night that this is a part of God's plan...that kids leave their parents and start homes of their own. And...that parents all over the world have to let their kids go...but that didn't make it any easier!

They will be taking the Dodge Dually (the one Becky pinked!) pulling the horse trailer and a Budget Truck pulling a car hauler with a Chevy 4x4 Z71 Pickup. Their dirt bikes will be in the back of the pickup and Katy and Rusty will take turns riding with the guys and their puppies. After spending some time with the last four puppies, TnT changed their minds on the puppies that they wanted. Travis chose Black 'n' White Girl Too, the one with a million freckles and Tony picked out Black 'n' White Boy. They chose the twins! As far as the puppies getting too hot in the Texas sun...they can always cool off in the horses' water troughs. I will get pictures in the morning of the guys with their puppies.

Today was filled with final packing, saying goodbye to old friends and cleaning the corrals one last time. I will go over tomorrow after the guys leave to clean Clancey's pen and make sure that our cleaning job of the other four is complete. We don't have electricity right now and we finished cleaning in the dark! I went in to Doc Pipkin's to get the Health Certificates and Coggins Test Results for all five horses. After a tear overflow episode at the Veterinary Hospital, I drove up the highway to our egg lady's place to give her some egg cartons (and to see Katy's pup that lives there now!) Amanda (Mandy) has grown a little and was glad to see me and gave me puppy kisses and a hug!

I have pictures of her with her new owner and the Rust 'n' White Boy and the White 'n' Black Boy with their new owners that I will post in the next couple of days. It is getting late and I still have to make a couple of postcards to sneak into the envelope that the guys will keep Pecos contact and important information in. They will be using it to put their receipts in and I want them to find the postcards while they are down the road... ...this is the hardest post I have had to write... Psalms 121 (The traveler's psalm) will be prayed over them as they travel to their new home:

Katy 'n' Rusty's Puppies @ 4 days old...

*UPDATE: (as the saying goes "my bad!"...Remington is a Thoroughbred/Percheron cross!!!)

The puppies are starting to get little freckles on their feet and noses! A few have them on the bottom of their pads too! They still sound like kittens mewing for their momma. Katy is still protective of her pups, but will let you pet them if you pet her with the other hand! She has gone a couple of times with the guys to feed the horses in the mornings when she has the puppies down for a nap.

I asked TnT which puppies that they are leaning toward and they said that they want to wait until the puppies are older to make their decision. They are all so adorable...I don't know how they are going to make that decision!!! I tend to gravitate toward the Rust 'n' White Girl 1, but handle, pet, cuddle and kiss everyone, and count to make sure all seven are were they are supposed to be!

The guys are over welding on the new round pen and are about half way around. They will be working as much as they can on it again tomorrow until it gets too hot. It is supposed to be 100 degrees tomorrow and 106 on the 4th! Each night, one or the other of the guys will take Daffinah out for a good ride, Travis will take Cahlibur for his walk and cool his feet down, Tony will give Coal his bath with the special shampoo, the girls and Clancey are taken to the turnout pen, and I get a couple of pens cleaned out before needing to be in several different places to get pictures!

I have decided to clean pens (I have gone down a pant size!) in the morning so that I can take pictures in the evenings when the guys are working with the horses. What will I do for exercise that does not hurt my back when Travis and Tony moved to Texas? Travis is working with a new horse named Fancy Feet. She is a Quarter Horse mare that has started rearing when her owner takes her out on trail rides with her daughter, Terri. Terri rides a gelding named Remington that looks like an older brother to Daffinah. He is bigger and darker and an Arabian*. I will be posting a few pictures of Fancy and Remington in the next couple of posts.

Night before last after a good ride on Coal, Tony trailered in a 9 year old Palomino Gelding for a new member of Franklin Field Horsemen's Association. He will be in a pen right across from Clancey, so you will probably see pictures of "Palomino" from time to time.

I didn't go over to the stables tonight because I needed to work on my blogs, my cousin Debbie's website and a couple of orders! If you guys love puppy pictures, you need to check out Starlo's Paw Prints, a blog that I set up for Debbie's Cockapoos. Let her know that I sent you over, she is just getting into blogging and needs encouragement that blogs are the perfect place to share her knowledge of dogs and puppies that she has learned from being a breeder for the past 24 years. Right now I am gathering info from her to post on the blog...in the future I hope to have her posting!

Tony took pictures of the puppies when they were 10 days old that I will post next. They were 10 days old...let's see...yesterday!!! I would like to get pictures of them in Travis' hands tonight so that you can see how big they are getting. It looks like their eyes may open in the next couple of days and it would be neat if it was on the 4th of July!!!
