Oakley "vamosing" along...

In this picture Oakley is strolling along with her head down. She could care less that the pannier boxes are on her back. I wanted to say that she is moseying along, but it didn't sound right. I did check the dictionary and mosey is a slang word derived from the word vamoose, but I was not given a derivative form adding "ing"! Mosey does mean:

mosey (mo'ze) vi. [] [Slang] 1. to stroll, amble, or shuffle along 2. to go away; move along

...according to my Webster's New World Dictionary of the American Language.

So, I looked at the meaning of vamoose and just like mosey it is an Americanism slang word from the Spanish word vamos, meaning let us go. I seem to remember "vamanos al la casa" from Spanish class years ago, which is roughly translated "let's go to the house". I guess another way to say it would be to say let's mosey to the house!

I love the sun rays in this picture! If you look real close you can see Travis and Oakley silhouetted just below the horizon taking a walk in the desert. Travis's cowboy hat is sticking up into the sky line as is a little of Oakley ears and neckline. Oakley didn't offer to buck once, and really could care less that the pack saddle was on her back and that the pannier boxes were swinging at her side. Boy, do I miss watching the guys train the horses in person...

Oakley lunging with pannier boxes...

You can see Travis here lunging Oakley after he put the pack saddle and pannier boxes on her back. Tony said that Travis really had to adjust the saddle to get it setting right on her. I asked him "Are you saying my horse is fat?" and he assured me that she was just stocky. Actually she is about the same as when she was living here in California. That's Cahlibur in the background and if you look to the left of Oakley, there are a couple head of cattle looking on!
