Settling In in Pecos...

TnT left Taft, CA Friday morning and pulled into Pecos, TX late Saturday night. They had called ahead to make sure that there would be someone at the arena so that they would be able to unload the horses into their new temporary homes.

Sunday morning dawned with TnT unloading their belongings into the duplex on Oleander St. As they worked, a Dodge pickup pulled up in front and a man got out to welcome them to Texas and the neighborhood. He ended up being the Deputy Warden of Security at the facility were they will be working.

Mr. DW told the guys that he and his wife had heard that the guys had dogs and he and his wife were dog people! Kate, Rusty, Cody and Jessie ended up staying with them while TnT drove the rental truck up to Carlsbad, NM. However, when the guys got home, all four dogs had escaped. Kate and Rusty had gone back to the duplex and were waiting for TnT on the porch. The puppies were missing! A search party consisting of TnT, Mr. and Mrs. DW and a neighbor started searching the neighborhood.

There is a vacant lot across the street from the guys place and then a vacant church. As Travis walked by the church leading Kate and Rusty, he heard the puppies barking from a hedge on the church property. It looked like they had been sleeping under the hedge. What a relief!!! All four dogs ended up spending the night in the horse trailer. The guys would make a dog run in the back yard in the morning. After sitting in the driveway and talking with Mr. and Mrs. DW for a couple of hours, it was time to go feed the horses and call it a night.

The guys had no electricity, water, or gas so they got a motel room for the night. What would tomorrow bring...

In the cell phone picture above, taken from the porch of the guys' duplex, you can see the vacant lot and then the vacant church past the Dodge. The tan house behind the church is Mr. & Mrs. DW's! Isn't that sky beautiful!!!

Update on Katy 'n' Rusty's Puppies...

Cool Slideshows!

Well...it looks like we have four girls and three boys! Everyone does have white tipped tails and no dew claws. Travis helped me get individual pictures yesterday, so these are day old pictures of our little sweethearts!!! Since we have no idea who was born first, I have listed them in alphabetical order. All seven were sleeping peacefully a few minutes ago!!!

I guess the official (quote...unquote) word is that Rusty is Red Border Collie and Queensland! And Miss Katy is Border Collie. They are not papered so we can't prove this. Both Katy and Rusty were rescued out of the oilfield and came to us at about 2 or 3 months old.

Update on Little Coal ~ Katy's Pup...

Little Coal is not so little anymore!!! In these pictures that Jamie sent via email tonight, he is growing up quickly! The picture where he is in Jamie's arms is his first night in his new home! Jaime said that it was a rough one, but from the looks of him in the rest of the pictures he has made himself right at home. Her brother went shopping and bought him a bed and all kinds of toys!!!

In the pictures with Pixie, you can see the difference in size from December to now.
Jaime title the last picture of Little Coal on the pillow: It's a dogs life! Boy does he have it rough. (I don't know if the pun was intended or not!) Jaime, thank you for sharing these pictures with us!!!

Howling, he'd been left behind...

Gunny: This is my favorite picture of Kate 'n' Rusty, so far that is! Kate 'n' Rusty go everywhere with TnT. Last night as TnT went for a ride out into the desert behind our property, they were trying out some new throat mics with two way radios that they bought for use when they go for dirt bike rides with their uncle.
With Rusty in training, they decided to drop him off as they rode by on Cahlibur 'n' Coal. They wouldn't be able to give him their direct attention. Katy stays close, knowing her boundaries, so she got to go along. Well, all of a sudden I hear this howl that sounded like a wolf or one of the dogs was hurt really bad! Upon inspection to make sure that Diesel, Dunny and Dippy were not in dire circumstances, I found Rusty sitting in the middle of the property, faced toward the desert, howling that he had been left behind! He searched for TnT's trail until they came home and he found them at the side gate...
