Little Coal is not so little anymore!!! In these pictures that Jamie sent via email tonight, he is growing up quickly! The picture where he is in Jamie's arms is his first night in his new home! Jaime said that it was a rough one, but from the looks of him in the rest of the pictures he has made himself right at home. Her brother went shopping and bought him a bed and all kinds of toys!!!
In the pictures with Pixie, you can see the difference in size from December to now.
Jaime title the last picture of Little Coal on the pillow: It's a dogs life! Boy does he have it rough. (I don't know if the pun was intended or not!) Jaime, thank you for sharing these pictures with us!!!

Through the grapevine...
Update: Dippy's name has been changed to "Ginger!"
This email came in from Jaime about Little Coal:
Coal is doing great!! He's spoiled rotten, my brother has bought him so many chew toys and plush toys that he doesn't know what to play with first. I have pictures from Christmas.....but they are still in the camera. I'll have to get them downloaded, so I can send them to you. He sleeps in my brother's room at night and gets the run of the house during the day. His two new sisters are finally playing with him and sharing their toys. Coal has figured out he can chase their fannies and get them to run......which is great fun for him! I'll try to get those pictures downloaded soon.
And I received this email shortly after Kodi went to Amber's:
Thanks Jamie and Amber for keeping us informed on how the puppies are doing!! Give them kisses from their Nanny J.
I don't have pictures of the puppies in their new home yet, but I've heard through the grapevine that Little Coal (black male) and Kodi (black female) have made their momma (Katy) proud! And us, too! Over at Coal's house the family cat got outside and would not come back in. Jaime told Coal to go get the wayward cat. He proceeded to round up the cat and brought kitty to the house when he was told! Not to be out done by her brother, Kodi helped round up Amber's sheep! When the small herd got away, Kodi was sent after them. She brought all the stray sheep home! Way to go puppies!!!
Now Katy's nest is empty...Dippy has gone to "mom's" house, so that "boyfriend" can give her to his "girlfriend" on Valentine's Day! I hope that "girlfriend" doesn't read this post until after Valentine's Day...I sure do miss seeing Dippy run around the place with the big dogs...

Update on Katy's Puppies...
I have heard from the puppies new families and everyone is doing great! New photos are in the offing! When I receive the photos I will share them with you. This is an update to let you know the puppies new names.
As you already know, this little black male is Little Coal...it is rumored that he chases his new sisters all around the place! He left for his new home on the Friday before Christmas.
On Christmas Eve, Winona went home with Shelby and her mother, Dorothy.
Christmas morning, Coco joined her family of 2 year old twins, and their parents. The twins father doesn't know who is going to wear out first, the twins or Coco!
Travis and Tony took Kodi in to Bakersfield to her new family on the 5th of January.
While in town on the 5th, at the Vet's office, they talked with a couple that said they would take Dippy (sight unseen) if the lady that was interested in her didn't take her. I have sent kisses to Little Coal, Winona, Coco, Kodi, gave one (or more) to Dippy, and can't wait to see how much they have grown!!!

15 Days Old!!!
From left to right: Lite Tan 'n' Black girl, Black 'n' White girl, Jet Black girl, Dark Tan 'n' Black girl, and "Little Coal".
I play with the puppies every day so that they will get used to human kindness and to prepare them for their new families. I know that it is just an excuse to cuddle and love on these adorable soft bundles of puppy fur. I whisper in their ears rules that they need to abide by and remember...
- They will not chase cats! Cats are babies just like them!
- They will mind perfectly when they are told - the first time!
- They will not get into the trash and spread it all over the yard!
- They will love and protect their family! That includes other animals.
- They will always be loved by me!

They grow so quickly as everyone knows! They are 3 weeks old today. To get caught up so that the pictures are current, I went in and took some of the puppies while they slept! I didn't turn on the light and took the pictures with the flash as an experiment. The pictures came out better than I thought they would. You can see that "Christmas Suprise"* is already taking to heart some of the rules I have whispered in her ear. (Protect your family!) She checked to see what I was doing and then by the next click she was back asleep.Tidbits: Little Coal was the first one to open his eyes, yes, he has a name already! Jaime's family named him before they knew that we had Coal. So until Little Coal goes to his new family, we have Big Coal (Mustang) and Little Coal (Puppy). He is the big guy, the second from the left!!!
*The little girl in the middle, escaped from the igloo today. She is being picked up on Christmas Eve to be a Christmas morning surprise. She will be decked in her new collar & leash, and presented to the kids as they open the top on the box their dad will be holding!
It is only a matter of time when all the puppies will come spilling out of the igloo. TnT are going to make some fencing out of plastic lattice and 1" x 2". This way the puppies can roam a little and Katy can jump in when it is time to feed. Katy's last litter stayed under the rose bush in the back yard. That was during the summer, a foot high board fence set their boundaries.
The little black 'n' white girl is my favorite, she looks the most like Katy. She is the smallest of the puppies. They are all so fat and pudgy, it is kind of hard to see the difference in their sizes. She is not jet black, like Katy, she is brownish black, like Little Coal.
